Meatball Mountain Pie
This is an original. Being on a meatball sandwich kick lately, I just had to try it. It did not disappoint. Easy, delicious and well-recieved in the Mountain Pie Cook-Off.
Meatball Mountain Pie Recipe:
Makes 1 pie
2 frozen meatballs, thawed
3 tablespoons pizza quick sauce
1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella (or some Italian blend) cheese
Mix garlic powder and butter in a small bowl or cup. Spread on one side of each slice of bread. Place in well-greased pie iron. Slice each meatball in half and lay onto one slice of bread. Spoon a tablespoon of sauce on each one and top with mozzarella cheese. Close pie iron and cook until the bread is toasty brown Serve with extra sauce if desired.
Everyone liked the flavors and the way it cooked. The addition of garlic powder made it tasty. The only suggestion was more of it. Sauce quantities vary by tastes. One judge wanted more sauce, one less. I thought it was just right, but then again, I made it.
